Everything started when I read Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas!
Born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt, I learned reading and writing as early as 4 years old. I read the Arabic translations of science fiction classics as a child and have always been excited about transforming Sci-Fi to real-world technology. I lived my teens through the 1990s and received B.Sc in mechanical engineering from Alexandria University, the alma mater of Ahmed Zewail, Azer Bestavros, Pope Tawadros II, Mo Ibrahim, and many other globally acclaimed scientists, thought leaders, and businessmen. I pursued postgraduate studies in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM, Johor) and received Masters and Ph.D. in 2008 and 2011, respectively.
My field of research in fluid mechanics is Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and turbulence modeling. I develop end-to-end solutions for modeling industrial and biological flows. Since 2014, my research has been focused on cerebral blood flow modeling using high-resolution CFD methods. My work aims to push CFD towards clinical applications and to enable insilico trials and personalized neurovascular management. I published over 70 papers in top peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings gaining an h-index of 25 since 2007.
I have a driving passion for innovation economy and futurology. Since 2017, I developed vested interest in deep tech projects including machine intelligence, blockchain, and quantitative scenario planning. I am particularly interested in the integration of such technologies to create disruptive solutions for critical problems in biotechnology, healthcare and knowledge engineering.
